危険を感知することのできない人にとっては,勇敢な行為は容易であるが,そういった勇気は愚かである場合が多い。無知や怠慢（忘れっぽさ）に基づく行動（様式）は,いかなるものも満足すべきものと見なすことはできない。なぜなら,最大限充分に知り理解することは,望ましいもの全てにとって,不可欠の要素だからである。
Courageous behaviour is easier for a man who fails to apprehend dangers, but such courage may often be foolish. We cannot regard as satisfactory any way of acting which is dependent upon ignorance or forgetfulness: the fullest possible knowledge and realisation are an essential part of what is desirable.
