【"sure"：同じ「確か」でも主観に傾いた言葉で、外的の証拠はあまりなくても自分で確実だと思うことを表明するのに使う。ただし、確固として覆すことができない、という意味もあるので注意。】
【"certain"；ちゃんとした証拠があり、誰が見てもまちがいないという意味の「確か」を表わすのに使う。】

(1-1) I'm sure everything will work out in the end.
[全ては最期になってはっきりすると思う。]
* この「I'm sure」は「I hope that」といったほどの意味

(1-2) She is so sure of herself.
[彼女はたいした自信家だ。]

(1-3) The whole thing is built on a sure foundation.
[これは確固とした土台の上に建てられている。]

(2-1) It is certain that we exist.
[我々が存在していることは疑いのない事実である。]

(2-2) A certain number of medical doctors were involved in the matter.
[その件には複数の医師が関係した。]
