【"depend"："rely"よりも依存度が強く，頼らざる得ないという含みがある。また依存する相手は人間（あるいはその人間の力量や人格など）ではなく物事であってもよい。】
【"rely"：頼る相手（対象）は人間に限定される。また「意志」を持って頼る。】

(1) Small children necessarily depend on parents.
[幼い子どもは，必然，親に依存する。]

(1-2) Prices depend upon supply and demand.
