【"question"：「疑問をもって質問する」という意味の最も一般的な言葉で、単純な質問、否定的な疑問、（常識などに）チャレンジなど、雑多な意味に使われる。】
【"query"：はっきりした、権威ある答えを求めて発せられる問いのこと。】
【"inquire"："question"や"query"のように基本的にひとつずつの質疑応答ではなくて、ある情報を得るためにいろいろと次々と聞くこと（探求すること）によって目的を達しようとすること。】

(1-1) His wife questioned him where he was last night.
[彼の妻は彼に昨夜はどこにいたのかと聞いた。]

(1-2) He questioned [asked] the information clerk how to get to the president's office.
[彼は社長の部屋はどこかと案内係に尋ねた。]

(2-1) The committee queried the President about his intentions.
[委員会は大統領の意図がどこにあるかを聞きただした。]

(2-2) Reader's letter vary. Some letters query. Some question fact.
[読者からの手紙はいろいろだ。あるものは情報を求め、あるものは事実に誤りがありと質してくる。]
