【"devil"：キリストの魂を現世の栄華で誘惑しようとしたサタン（Satan）で，道徳から見た悪の権化を言う。】
【"demon"："ラテン語の daemon が一つの起源で，本来 spirit（霊）のこと。人間離れした力をもっているもので，神技の象徴として使う言葉。ギリシアの daimon はオリンピアの神々と人間との中間の"secondary divinities"（第二級の神霊）と言われており，daimon も英語の demon になっている。】
【"fiend"："中世の英語に起源がある言葉で、本来は「憎悪の精神（the sprit of hate)」のことであるが､英語では addiction（中毒）になった人のことを言う。】
