"mount" ; "mint"（山、突き出る）

米国の Montana 州は、スペイン語で「山」の意味の montana に由来。
なお、「突き出る」を意味する語根には、mount の他に mint がある。

* prominence : 「前に（pro) 突き出ること」→「（太陽の）紅炎」「重要性、卓越」
* eminent : 外に（e-）突き出た」→ 「著名な、卓越した」
