【"disbelief"：起こったことが余りにも自分の考えや予想と違っているので、唖然として、事実を信じかねている状態。】
【"unbelief"：神を信仰しないこと､つまり無神論者の信念のことであり，無宗教の人のことを "unbeliever"と言う，神学上では大罪と見なされる。しかし，一般社会においては，"unbelief"も"unbeliever"(無宗教の人)も特別悪い意味はない。ちなみに、第２代日本バートランド・ラッセル協会会長の谷川徹三は,ラッセルのことを "unreligious believer"と称した。さらに次のような３つの組み合わせもできるが、いずれも成立する状況は考えられるような気がするがどうであろうか？ religious unbeliever; unreligious unbeliever; religious believer】

(1-1) I had no hope to win the race, and when someone told me I came out first, I just stood there in utter disbelief.
