我々(人間)は，直接経験する心的事象(の内在的性質)を除いて，物理(的)事象の内在的性質については何も知らないので,我々の頭(脳)の外の物理的世界が心的世界と違っているかあるいは違っていないか,どちらであるか言うことはできない。精神と物質との関係についての想定（仮定）された問題は，（精神と物質の）両方を，事象群としてではなく，(実体的な)「もの(事物)」として，取扱うという聞達ったことから生じる(のである)。私の提示（提出）した理論（注：中立的一元論）によって，（精神と物質との関係の）全ての問題は消失する。
Since we know nothing about the intrinsic quality of physical events except when these are mental events that we directly experience, we cannot say either that the physical world outside our heads is different from the mental world or that it is not. The supposed problem of the relations of mind and matter arises only through mistakenly treating both as "things" and not as groups of events. With the theory that I have been suggesting, the whole problem vanishes.

それでも､肉体（もの）は滅びても、精神（こころ）は生き続ける（消滅しない）と考える人がいる。考えたい人は個人的に考えるのはよいが、社会的、あるいは国家として幻想を振りまいてはならない（靖国に眠っている,国家に御霊を捧げた英霊に報いるためにとか・・・。）
