家柄を誇れる人々も家柄はたいしたこともない金持ちには媚を売ることが少なくない。家柄もお金も持っていない人も、東大を卒業し、官僚になり、その後政治家にでもなれば、学歴やしゃべりかた（官僚言葉）で優位に立てる。そうして、「国民のため」と口では言いながら、自分は選ばれた人間（選民／エリート）として君臨することができる。
