【"mix"：違ったもの（音、色、味、その他）を原型のママ混合すること。ただし、ある効果を意図して混ぜ合わせる場合には、"blend"と同じ意味として使われる場合がある。】
【"blend"：個々の混合物の原型をとどめないまで新しいものを生み出すこと。】

* 『英単語ターゲット1900』p.398の説明がわかりやすい。即ち、"mingle" は見て元の成分がわかるように混ぜること； "mix" は異なるものを均質になるように混ぜること； "blend" は同じものの（お茶ならお茶の）異なる種類をまぜること。
(1) Oil and water will never mix.
[油と水は絶対にまじわらない。]

(2-1) This coffee is a blend of four varieties.
[このコーヒーは４種類の原料のブレンドだ。]

(2-2) The blue of her dress perfectly blended with the color of her eyes.
