【"mind"："mind"（知性/精神）は理性・知性を司っており、情感を意味する"heart"（心）や"spirit"（霊）とは区別する必要がある。日本語の「心（こころ）」にはいろいろな意味があるので、"mind"を「心」と訳さない方がよい。】
【"spirit"：霊、精霊、気質、精神。対照語は"body"。】

(1-1) He has a good mind.
[彼は頭脳（知性+判断力）明晰だ。（善意の人という意味ではなく、"good"は機能的に「良い」という意味。）]

(1-2) The world's best minds were there.
[世界最高の人知（知性）が一同に会していた。]

[この詩の精神がわかりますか？]

(2-2) His spirit is good, but his behavior does not catch up with it.
