【"envious"：他人の所有物（富とか才能など）に対する羨望の念を言う。特にそうしたものは絶対に自分は到達できないものだと自覚している場合にこの念が強い、】
【"jealous"：ライバル感覚の強い言葉で，その人間さえいなければ当然自分のものになっていたものをとられる恐れがある時などに起こる敵意。ただし、自分の所有物に深い価値を置き、それを失うまいと精魂を傾けることを意味する場合もある（例2-2）。】
