★ local (pp.140-141)
　これは日本語では「地方」、つまり田舎のことと思われているがそれは間違い。「地元」のことだと思えば理解しやすく、地元は東京のこともあれば大阪のこともある。東京全体に対しては世田谷ということもある。つまり、話の内容によって地元（地域）の内容は異なってくる。東京にいて、外国人または他の地方から来ている人に対して当該地域の誰かを紹介するのに、"She is a local girl."と言えば、「このひとは、東京の土地っ子です」ということになる。

　Ｒ英単語・熟語集の用例とはできるだけ重複しないようにしますが、用例が少ない場合はどうしても重複してしまいます。あしからず。
