地球上のいかなる土地も、最初から特定の人間や集団の所有物だったわけではないはずです。昔は人口が少なく、土地は人口に比べて十分に余っていたため、命を懸けて戦争をしてまでして取得する必要はあまりありませんでした。しかし、人口の増加とともに、より肥沃で住みよい土地をめぐって競争が激化し、ついには武力によってそれを手に入れようとする者たちが現れました。こうして、それぞれの土地で最も力の強い者が他の人々を従え、やがて部族の長や国家の支配者として権力を確立していきました。本来は武力（暴力）によって奪われた土地の所有権も、後には神話や宗教的な正当化によって「神から与えられた権利」へと置き換えられ、その支配の正統性が強化されていったのです。
No land on Earth was originally the property of any particular individual or group. In ancient times, when the population was small and land was plentiful relative to the number of people, there was little need to risk one's life in war to acquire territory. However, as the population increased, competition intensified over more fertile and livable lands, and eventually, some began to seize them by force.
In this way, the most powerful individuals in each region came to dominate others, establishing themselves as tribal leaders or rulers of emerging states. Land that had originally been taken by violence was later legitimized through myths and religious justifications, being reframed as a "divine right," which served to reinforce the legitimacy of their rule.
