アメリカ南部在住のキリスト教原理主義の人々のなかには進化論を信じていない人がけっこういるそうです。進化論を信じている我々も、人類の祖先である類人猿や猿人がライオンなどの猛獣の餌食になっていた時代に思いをはせることはほとんどありません。
自国中心ではなく、世界の幸福のことをより考えるようになって、人類は進歩してきました。しかし、近年では、トランプの「アメリカ第一主義」や「米国を再び偉大にする」のキャッチフレーズに表れているように、「自国第一主義」がまた復活し始めているようです。しかし、言葉の表面的な意味に騙されてはいけません。小国が「自国第一主義」を唱えても世界に悪い影響を与えることはほとんどなく、大国の「自国第一主義」は大国以外の国々に大国の「自我を押し付けること」に他ありません。
