老人と若者の間の誤解は、単に老人が権力を持っているという事実だけでなく、世界における変化にも依っている。世界の変化がもっと急激になれば、両者間の誤解も一層ひどくなり、異なった世代間の会話は事実上ほとんど不可能になるかもしれない。これは残念なことであるけれども、世界がより安定しないかきり、ほとんど不可避的な現象である。
Misunderstandings between old and young depend not only upon the fact that the old have power, but also upon the changes in the world ; as these changes grow more rapid, the misunderstandings are likely to grow greater until all real converse between persons of different generations becomes impossible. This is to be regretted, but can hardly be avoided until the world has become more stable.
