・・・。もしあなたが私のその論文をよく吟味してくだされば、"Righteousness"（公正さ）についての考え方は、社会と時代とともに変化すると言っているにすぎないことがおわかりになると思います。また、子供達を取り扱うに当たっての "Justice" というのは、彼らに機会を与えるのに差別をしないということであり、教育学上の偏見から無慈悲な取り扱いをして子供達を犠牲にすることのないような教育を行うということであり、それは容易に理解されるはずです。この２つの概念及び子供達を正しく取り扱うということは,単純な概念であり、少しも矛盾しないと思います。
'In your article "Has Religion made Useful Contributions to Civilisation?" you pretend that the concept of righteousness is a relative one and thus not suitable as a moral standard. However, in the same article you maintain that in the education of children (to prevent jealousy) strict justice is required. I do not see a clear distinction between the concepts of righteousness and justice....'

.. You will find if you examine the essay that I mean no more than that views of 'righteousness' vary with communities and periods. Justice in the treatment of children is easily understood as the lack of discrimination in the opportunities accorded them and the educational practice of not victimising children with harsh treatment for reasons of pedagogic prejudice. The two ideas ('righteousness) and fair treatment of children seem to be simple ones and not contradictory at all.

相手が使っている言葉の意味をよく理解しないで、先入観のもとで相手を論駁しようとする態度はいただけません。ボキャブラリーの少ない人は、似通った言葉がいろいろあり、それらは必要に応じて使い分けしないといけないということがわかりません。
Righteousness（公正さ）と Justice（正義）との使い分けもその一つです。
速読してよい本と熟読すべき本とは異なります。速読できることを自慢する人も、数学や理論哲学の本になると、文字を追うだけで、意味を理解しないで読んだつもりになる人が少なくありません。もう少し謙虚になったほうがよさそうです。
