私は,ごく幼いころ,私をとりまいていたヴィクトリア朝時代の誤魔化しと偽善を見抜いており,もし将来子供を持ったら,私に対してなされているような誤りを繰り返さないと誓ったことを,生き生きと覚えている。いま私は,力の及ぶかぎり,この誓いを守っている。
I remember vividly how, at a very early age, I saw through the Victorian humbug and hypocrisy with which I was surrounded, and vowed that, if I ever had children, I would not repeat the mistakes that were being made with me. To the best of my ability I am keeping this vow.
