新しい道徳律を古い道徳律に代替させることは，新しい道徳を我々の意識的思考を構成する最上層で受け入れるだけでなく，全人格で受け入れない限り、完全に満足すべきものには決してなりえない。大部分の人々にとって，もし彼らが幼年時代を通して古い道徳にさらされてきたのであるならば，これは非常に困難なことである。それゆえ，新しい道徳はそれを年少者の教育（早期の教育）に適用されるまで公正に判断することは不可能である。
The substitution of a new moral code for the old one can never be completely satisfactory, unless the new one is accepted with the whole personality, not only with that top layer which constitutes our conscious thought. To most people this is very difficult if throughout their early years they have been exposed to the old morality. It is therefore impossible to judge a new morality fairly until it has been applied in early education.

頭で表面的に理解しているだけで新時代の倫理観や道徳観を身に着けていない人は少なくない。幼少期の育ち方が悪いと、また幼少期のトラウマは一生その人を支配し続けてしまう場合もある。
