期待や願望が個人的な生活を幅広く越える人は，もっと限定された欲望を持っている人に存在する恐怖心と同じような恐怖心を感じるような機会は存在しない。そういった人は，自分が死ぬ時に，自分の仕事を引き継いでくれる人がいるだろうと，また，過去の最大の惨害でさえも，遅かれ早かれ克服されてきていると，考えることができる（のである）。
