Bertrand Russell Quotes 366 |
There was one officer who whole-heartedly approved of me. He was the Chief Engineer, and he had read The ABC of Relativity without knowing anything about its author. One day, as I was walking the deck with him, he began on the merits of this little book and, when I said that I was the author, his joy knew no limits.

Works published between 1923 and 1963 were only eligible for copyright protection if they were copyright registered. Russell's The ABC of Relativity was published in 1925, but apparently was not copyright registered and is available in electronic form free of charge (although the Amazon Kindle version only charges a small fee).
At the time Russell wrote the book, ‘Steady State Cosmology’ was the prevailing theory; later, Expanding Cosmology became the prevailing theory. As physics has progressed, those parts of the book have been revised with the help of physicists. However, other than those parts, the book has remained largely unmodified and is still considered to be worth reading.
