愛と幸福
恋愛は,協力を生み出す感情の第一の,そして最も一般的な形であって,いかなる程度であっても,恋愛を経験したことのある人ならば,自分の最高の幸福（good）が愛する人の幸福（good）とは無関係であるとするような哲学には,満足しないだろう。この点では,親としての感情はさらにより強力であるが,親としての最上（最良）の感情は,夫婦愛から生まれ出るものである。(出典： ラッセル『幸福論』第２章「バイロン風の不幸)Love is the first and commonest form of emotion leading to cooperation, and those who have experienced love with any intensity will not be content with a philosophy that supposes their highest good to be independent of that of the person loved.
