人間の果てしない欲望のなかで，最も主要なものは，権力と栄光への欲望である。このふたつは，密接に関連しているが，同一のものではない。総理大臣（首相）は，栄光よりも権力を多く持っているが，国王は，権力よりも栄光を多く持っている。けれども，一般的に言って，栄光を得る最も容易な方法は権力を得ることである。

西欧世界においては、世俗的世界における権力の代表はアメリカ大統領であり、霊的な（精神的な）世界における代表はローマ教皇（法王）です。アメリカではプロテスタントが約50%でカトリックが約25%（トランプ自身もプロテスタント）ですので、多少事情が異なるにせよ、トランプ大統領もローマ教皇（法王）の影響力を軽視することはできません。
トランプ大統領は、ローマ教皇に扮したAI画像をX (旧ツイッター）に投稿し非難されました。これに対、トランプは、「画像は私が作成したものではない、冗談だ」と非難をかわしました。トランプ大統領がローマ教皇を内心どう思っているかわかりませんが、「栄光を得る最も容易な方法は権力を得ることである（the easiest way to obtain glory is to obtain power）」というラッセルの言葉にあるように、栄光の象徴である国王（たとえば、英国のチャールズ国王）よりも自分のほうが優越していると思っているのではないでしょうか？
In the Western world, the representative of power in the secular realm is the President of the United States, while the representative of spiritual (or religious) authority is the Pope in Rome. In the U.S., Protestants make up about 50% of the population and Catholics about 25% (Trump himself is Protestant), so the situation is somewhat different. Still, even President Trump cannot completely ignore the influence of the Pope.
President Trump was criticized for posting on X (formerly Twitter) an AI-generated image in which he himself appeared dressed as the Pope. In response to the criticism, Trump dismissed it by saying, "I didn't make the image; it was just a joke." While we cannot know what Trump truly thinks of the Pope, one might suspect that, in line with Russell's remark that "the easiest way to obtain glory is to obtain power," Trump believes he is superior even to monarchs who symbolize glory, such as King Charles of the United Kingdom.
