＜寸言＞
日本国憲法は ― 国民の義務を定めたものではなく、国民の権利を定めたものであり ― 「すべての国民が健康で文化的な最低限度の生活を営む権利、つまり、生存権」を高らかに宣言しています。
しかし、理論上ではそうなっていても、実際面ではなかなかそれが実現しているとは言い難い面が多々あります。たとえば、経済的に恵まれない人や恵まれていたが何らかの原因で経済的に窮地に陥った人が行政機関に救済を求めた際に、「国民の税金は適切に使用されなければならない」という大義のもとに、必要な支援が行われない場合がけっこうあります。また、SNS上では、支援を求める人たちに関する嘘やデマがばらまかれ、炎上することもかなりあります。
人は生まれたときから経済的格差を始めいろいろな格差があります。そうして、人はみな平等の基本的人権を持っていると言っても、生まれながらの格差が原因で基本的人権までもが侵害されることがありますが、そのようなことが起こっても、見て見ぬふりをする人も少ながらずいます。
ラッセルの本日の言葉（添付画像参照）は、恵まれた子供や大人が恵まれていない人達のことをあまり想像できなかったり理解しようとしないことを戒めるものであり、思いやりの大切さをのべたものです。
The Constitution of Japan does not define the duties of the people but rather their rights, and it clearly proclaims "the right of all citizens to maintain a minimum standard of wholesome and cultured living"?in other words, the right to live.
However, while this is true in theory, in practice, it is often difficult to say that this right is fully realized. For example, when individuals who are economically disadvantaged?or those who were once financially stable but have fallen into hardship due to unforeseen circumstances?seek assistance from government agencies, they are sometimes denied the necessary support under the pretext that "taxpayer money must be used appropriately." Furthermore, on social media, false information and rumors about those seeking support are frequently spread, sometimes leading to public outrage and backlash.
From the moment people are born, they face various inequalities, including economic disparities. While it is said that all people possess equal fundamental human rights, these rights can, in reality, be undermined due to inequalities present from birth. Yet, even when such injustices occur, there are not a few people who choose to turn a blind eye.
Today's quote from Bertrand Russell (see attached image) warns against the tendency of well-off children and adults to lack imagination and understanding toward those who are less fortunate. It emphasizes the importance of compassion.
