私は今になってわかるが,私たちに教えていたあの（幼稚園の）淑女はフレーベル正統派の訓練をうけており,それは当時としては驚くべき最新式のものであった。私は今でもなおあの時受けたほとんど全てのレッスンを詳細に思い出すことができるが,しかし私を最も感動させたのは,黄色と青色をまぜると緑になるということを発見したことであったと思う。
I realise now that the good lady who taught us [at the kindergarten] had had an orthodox Froebel training, and was at that time amazingly up-to-date. I can still remember almost all the lessons in detail, but I think what thrilled me most was the discovery that yellow and blue paints made green.
