While it would be a bad idea to assume that those who favour ‘extreme’ sports and shows are ‘either twisted in character or have something instinctively unfulfilling’, it is likely that they often ‘have something instinctively unfulfilling’. Frustration is a necessary part of human development, but ‘excessive’ forms of it are likely to cause disaster.
