In philosophy, hitherto, ethical neutrality has been seldom sought and hardly ever achieved. Men have remembered their wishes, and have judged philosophies in relation to their wishes. Driven from the particular sciences, the belief that the notions of good and evil must afford a key to the understanding of the world has sought a refuge in philosophy. But even from this last refuge, if philosophy is not to remain a set of pleasing dreams, this belief must be driven forth.

* a brief comment
The word "philosophy" is used in various contexts beyond its original meaning, such as "life philosophy," "political philosophy," "social philosophy," "business philosophy," and so on. "Life philosophy" refers to something akin to a "view of life," while terms like "political philosophy" or "social philosophy" might be better described as "applied philosophy."
Whether one is a researcher in political philosophy or social philosophy, there is a need to build their theories on the foundation of theoretical philosophy. However, it seems to me that there are quite a few individuals who lack thorough pursuit of objectivity and ethical neutrality. What do you think?
