The doctrine of original sin, according to which we all deserve punishment because of Adam's transgression, is one which strikes most people at the present day as unjust, although there are many who see no injustice when analogous doctrines are proclaimed in politics -- for example, when it is thought right that German children born since 1939 should starve because their parents did not oppose the Nazis.
