
We spent the summer in the Sierras, at Fallen Leaf Lake near Lake Tahoe, one of the loveliest places that it has ever been my good fortune to know. ... ... I had a tiny study which was hardly more than a shed, and there I finished my Inquiry into Meaning and Truth. Often it was so hot that I did my writing stark naked, But heat suits me, and I never found it too hot for work.
