It was in part upon such reports as Schoenman's and of those of Christopher Farley who, in November, 1964, was the first member of the foundation to go to Vietnam to obtain first-hand impressions, that I base my attitude and statements in regard to the Vietnam war, as well as upon reports of other special investigators. Chiefly, however, I base my opinions upon the facts reported in the daily newspapers, especially those of the United States. These reports seem to have been published almost by chance since they appear not to have affected editorial policy.
