良い結果は生まれない
私生活に荒廃をもたらす情熱は、公的生活にも同様の荒廃をもたらす。ねたみのような悪しきものからよい結果が生まれるとは考えられない。それゆえ、理想主義的な理由から、社会組織を根本的に変革し、社会正義を大幅に増やしたいと思う人は、ねたみ以外の力が改革の手段（助け）になることを、望まなければならない。（出典： ラッセル『幸福論』第６章「ねたみ」）Passions which work havoc in private life work havoc in public life also.
