★ radical [(adj) 根本的な,抜本的な,徹底的な；過激な,急進的な；（葉が）根性の　|| (n) 急進主義者

* 『東大英単』p.74の説明：radish(大根)と同じく,ラテン語の radix (根=root)から発生した言葉で,形容詞形の radical は,「根っこ（根本）からの」というのが原意で,「抜本的な」となる。
* radically (adv.): in a sweeping or fundamental way; completely
* radical right : 極右。
