★ believe in
　個人主義が未発達の日本にはない意味合いを持った表現で、たとえば、"I believe in you"と言うと、単に「あなたのことを信じている（嘘をつかないと思っている）／信頼している」というような消極的な意味合いではなく、「あなたを師とあおいでいます」といったような積極的な意味合いを持った言葉。(p.020)

1) I don't believe in tricks.（ = I don't think tricks will pay. トリックを使っても何にもならない。）　Ｒ英単語・熟語集の用例とはできるだけ重複しないようにしますが、用例が少ない場合はどうしても重複してしまいます。あしからず。】
