Bertrand Russell Quotes

With every increase of knowledge and skill, wisdom becomes more necessary, for every such increase augments our capacity of realizing our purposes, and therefore augments our capacity for evil, if our purposes are unwise.

* a brief comment:
Thanks to scientific progress, particularly advances in AI and genetic technologies, the future of humanity may appear very bright. At the same time, however, from the negative side of issues such as climate change, it can also look very bleak. It seems that if human wisdom were to grow, we could gradually reduce these negative aspects. Yet, observing the self-centered attitude of President Trump of the United States, currently the world’s most powerful leader, who appears unconcerned about sacrificing other nations for his own country's benefit, I cannot help but feel pessimistic.
Still, if Japanese politicians and business leaders were to change their habit of simply following the United States, perhaps things would not become so dire. But seeing how they still cannot speak frankly to the U.S., I feel disheartened.
No human being can escape death. Even Trump, who now seems invincible, must inevitably face death in the not-too-distant future.
