It may often turn out to be futile, but as you gain experience, you will become better able to judge and anticipate. Compared to ordinary citizens, politicians think (or claim to think) about the state and the world on a daily basis and may not seem likely to make major mistakes, but in fact the opposite is often true. In particular, ‘hereditary politicians’, many of whom have little experience of living in economic hardship and have been pampered since they were small, sometimes surprise the public by saying and doing unbelievable things. We elected such politicians, so it is ‘spitting in the sky’ to criticise them on the shelf.
