The observer, when he seems to himself to be observing a stone, is really, if physics is to be believed, observing the effects of the stone upon himself. Thus science seems to be at war with itself: when it most means to be objective, it finds itself plunged into subjectivity against its will. Naive realism leads to physics, and physics, if true, shows that naive realism is false. Therefore naive realism, if true, is false; therefore it is false. * a brief comment
Many people put their faith in science, many believe in the theory of evolution and that there was a time before humans were born on earth. They believe that the earth as nature existed at a time when there was no human observer on the planet, and at a time when there was no life. In contrast, those who believe in a creator God (e.g. committed Christians) do not believe in the history of evolution from the amoeba to man (evolutionary theory), as they believe that an absolute God created man. Alternatively, they hold that ‘evolution’ was also created by God at the same time.
The capacity of sensory organs, whether human or other non-human animals, is not that great. It is impossible for an individual human being or a group of humans to perceive the world as a whole correctly. What then is an ‘objective’ science in which the human senses are not involved at all! Is there such a thing?
