What people eat regularly depends on the climate, culture and religion of the area where they live.
 In South Korea, there is a custom of eating dogs, which dog lovers may find frightening. On the other hand, there are (or were) cultures that eat cats (parts of China and North Vietnam), and cat lovers may shudder.
 In Japan, few people ate meat until western culture arrived, but now it has become the norm.
 However, vegetarians are found all over the world. There are even vegans who abstain from all foods of animal origin, including dairy products.
 Chicago, home to the world's largest slaughterhouse, sounds disgusting. But old Japan, where small birds were roasted and eaten, seems cruel to Westerners. Off topic.
