Bertrand Russell Quotes 366

In objecting to the mechanistic outlook, I am not objecting to machinery; it is the worship of machinery, not the use of it, that does the harm. Agriculture still survives, though we have abandoned the worship of the corn spirit, with all its attendant horrors. Similarly the use of the machine will survive, even if we cease to worship the god from the machine.
