　金銭を崇拝する者、自分の努力や活動を通して幸福を期待することをやめてしまった者であり、幸福とは外界から得られる楽しみを受動的に享受することだとみなしている。 芸術家や恋愛をしている者は、熱中している時に金銭を崇拝したりはしない。なぜなら、彼らの欲求ははっきり限定されており、当人のみが創造できる対象に向けられているからである。
