　私はこの新しい学校の６つある学生寮のうちの１つの寮監をしています。・・・。私たちの寮は、先生の名前をつけさせていただいて、「ラッセル・ハウス」といたしました。・・・。もし先生が、私たちのためにお便りを書いてくださるお時間があるようでしたらお願いがあります。先生の数かぎりないご著書のうちの何冊かをご恵送いただけないでしょうか。・・・そうして頂けるならば、本校の、このささやかな学生寮の寮生たちにとりまして、ほんとうに大きな励ましとなることと存じます。・・・。

　最初「ラッセル・ハウス」と書いてあるところを読んだ時、何百人もの少年達が私の活動に大変関心を持ち、私が必要な時に彼らがやってきて、返事を書かないといけない何百通という手紙を処理する仕事を手伝ってくれることができるという幻想を抱きました。そのような助けがないことのみがこの返事をさしあげるのが遅かった理由です。
　私の短目の著作を同封します。皆さんの興味をひくことができれば幸いです。それから、他の本も（別便で）お送りするよう秘書に指示しました。

'I am Housemaster of one of the six houses in this new school ... we have named our House after you.... If you could find time to write to us; could spare any copies of your countless works... it would be a great encouragement for this small section of our school population to hear from you....'

Dear Mr Ure, (November 2, 1966)
When I first read about Russell House, I had visions of hundreds of boys taking so much interest in my work that they would, in time, be able to come and help me with the hundreds of letters which I receive and must try to answer. Only the absence of such help explains the lateness of this letter. I enclose a short work which I hope will be of interest, and have asked my secretary to send other items.
